From geno: Hey Mr. Clark!! Thanks so much for this info. I could either snorkel or dive with these beauties,, it does not matter to me as long as i can take some photo’s(lol).. Holbox Mexico,, is that on the Pacific side or the Sea of Cortez?? Well i will definitely be looking into both destinations you mentioned! Thanks again!!

Holbox is a couple hour drive north of Cancun and you need to make reservations, don’t just show up hoping for a room. We did a combo trip of three days in Holbox and then down to Cancun for the ferry over to Cozumel for a week.

Another spot to consider is Utila Honduras in March although they clain to have whalesharks year round. I spent a week there and the diveboat found them everyday. There is a picture in my photos of us snorkeling with one but unless one shows up on the dive it’s snorkel only there too.

The best pictures are going to be on scuba and the only place that goes looking for them on scuba is the Galapagos or north of Australia, otherwise hope for a random encounter.
