I echo the sentiment above. Take your time. A year from now there is a good chance you will be doing different types of diving that you may have never thought about....wreck diving, cave diving, night diving!


I would only add that there are a few items that I constantly find myself saying "that was the best thing I ever bought." Some of those would be 1. Spring straps for my fins. No adjustment needed. Easy on and off. A nice luxury for shore diving. 2. Computer with a wireless transmitter. It’s an expensive option but once you try it you never go back. It’s smart to keep a redundant air pressure gauge, but one less hose is nice. And my dive info is right there at a flip of the wrist. 3. A good, no great, dive light. I love my Intova Super Nova light. I dive with it day or night. Any dive is more enjoyable when you can see what you are looking at. Without light at depth you lose so much color. The best dive light you can afford at the time is always a good investment.
