I was in Playa in Feb. Great diving, unlimited visability, Coral, Barracuda, turtles and if you look close there are moreys, It’s all drift diving off the beach. Boats and dive shops lined up along the beach at about every hotel. Walk up negotiate a price and They have boats running about every 2-3 hrs. The boat ride is 5min, by the time you have your gear on they are dumping you in the water. I used a Scuba caribe’ They were professional and efficient. Through the day they hit several different sections of the reef so you can get some veriety, some nights offer a night dive as well. If you go to The Scuba Caribe’ web site they have info on locations od dive centers and boats. At most hotels they have travel agents in the lobbies who can set up about any diving excusion you want. Like cenote’ trips or a day trip to cozumel. I didn’t get a chance to do the extra trips so i plan on going back. Though you will pay more if you use the lobby agents. try to deal with the dive shop direct to get better prices.
