My brother and I used Great White Adventures in November 2006. The boat and the crew were great. The dive master is a marine biologist and actually worked on the research station at the Farralons. He was very knowledgeable and had some great stories.

We chose to go to the Farralons because they are not allowed to chum. (Since there’s a pretty healthy shark population where I live, I’m really against sharks associating divers with an easy meal.) Unfortunately, we spent a couple of hours freezing in a cage and were not lucky enough to see the animals close up. As soon as we got out of the water, the deckhands were stripping off our wetsuits and giving us blankets and hot minestrone.

We got to see seals and a young gray whale swam right up to our boat. Just as we were giving up on seeing a great white, a female suddenly breach-attacked an elephant seal at the surface 100ft in front of our boat. Very cool.
