Fins are a personnel issue & too often the real properties of the fins of choice go unknown. Do you know the stiffness & rebound your fins today? Fin choice can impact air consumption & your pocket book so choose wisely. It is my belief that you want the stiffest fin that you can get & that you can use. I am currently using ones with stiff 92 rebound 85 looking for version with stiff 90 rebound 100. I find that I can out swim most with no effort, one must however take care to not overwork their dive buddy. With students I frog kick most of the time. I have and do use other fins, ones I use the most are Force Fin Pros, looking at Tan Delta. These fins have many features & with inserts can be used for multiple things, remove the inserts to go up a size & fit your dry suit, with inserts barefoot or with light wet boots. Exercise with any fin regularly as this exercise activity is different than walking or running. During the season I am in the water a number of times a week & this helps

Scuba Pro Twin Jet

Scubapro twin jets are something that I have been considering. Am supposed to be borrowing a pair from a local shop to try out so that I can do a comparison to my current fins to see how their stand up against one another. How do you get on with them?

They are like strapping a pair of outboard motors to your feet. I have not felt such propulsion in a fin before. For me it was a no-brainer...

I use Mares Volos. I`ve enjoyed them so far but I haven`t had much to compare them to. I took the dive shops recommendation as a newbie. I caught some grief from the instructors because they "have holes in them, how can you get any speed" but the fins are huge and when I wanted to kick it up a notch, I could speed with the best of them. I`ll probably want to try some other designs. ============= http://www.njscuba.net/gear/eqpt_01_mask_fins_snorkel.html

Started out on the Mares Volo, but could not stand the hard foot pocket. So I went with the ScubaPro Twin Jet in Hi Vis yellow.

I USE THE SCUBA PRO JET FINS. I KNOW THEY COME IN 3 COLORS. THE BLUE ONE I HAVE AND ITS SMOOTH DIVE. I`VE TRIED THE BLACK ONE, AND I NOTICE THERE`S MORE POWER TO IT. BUT I`VE HAD THE BLUE ONE FOR LIKE 5 YEARS AND STILL GOING!!

APOLLO split fins! Love them! Not hard on the legs. I also have MARES volopower. They are hard to get off, but that would be great when swimming with seals! lol (I hear they take your fins!)

Started out w/ Aqualung Blade2 HF ... got rid of those after 1 month and thoroughly enjoy my Tusa Tri-Ex

Personaly I use the Volo Power fins and love them, but the Sherwood Kinesis fins or Genesis Response fins have worked well for me when I take them out. I have also have heard the Akona Azione work well.

Apollo Bio Fin Pro`s. Excellant for comfort and power. The trick is learning the kick pattern for maximum benefit. They are SO light and comfy, I lost one on a deep drift dive and didn`t realize it until someone was pointing at my feet. I looked down and saw it spiraling down into the abyss! The dive was so cool though, I finished it on ONE fin!

I have Force Fins Tan Deltas, and I like them. I had used Force Fins Pro models before I got the Tan Deltas, and they took some getting used to. At first it seems like you`re kicking a lot and getting nowhere, but you have to modify your kick. Some people say that Force Fins don`t work for frog kicks, but that hasn`t been my experience. Mine are easy to get on and off, they don`t cramp my legs, they go plenty fast with a flutter kick, they work on the surface, I can to frog kicks and go backward. What more do you want? Well, I guess if they could do all that and be a lot less expensive, that would be cool!
