 Solo Diving; Octopus or...no?

Opinion: When solo diving with a 19 cu ft pony bottle, should I disconnect my octopus and then reattach it when diving with my buddies? (Note: I won’t be using the pony bottle when I am diving with them.)

My 2nd reg is a combo and always on the pony.
That being said, being a photographer I usually don’t have a buddy or if one was assigned it’s probably another photog who is busy watching his viewfinder and not me anyhow.
