I am planning a trip to the Bahamas in Feb. We will be staying in Freeport. Does anyone have some suggestions for place to dive and what to see while there?

I have not done any diving over there, but I agree. http://www.unexso.com/ is where I have had several recommendations by the people at the resorts over there. If you are taking your own gear, I recommend staying at Grand Lucayan. It is right across the street from the Marketplace, where you get on the boat. You really want to make it easy with carrying your gear around. If you are renting their gear, then stay at Taino Beach. Ask for a balcony room. Great people, right on the beach and they have a lot of things going on each day.

Thanks everyone. I have been looking through the information shared and I am looking forward to this trip. I have been on some wreck dives but I would like to do more. My wife will like the Dancing Flamingos. Lets get wet!!

Just returned from a 6 day stay there, my second trip in a year. I agree with the prior recommendations to go with Unexso. They run a little bit higher in price than some of their competitors, ($100 for 2 tank) but they are a very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable team. They have lockers you can use for free to stow your gear overnight, which is really convenient for multi-day diving with them (bring a lock, but it’s safe. Have left my gear overnight, without a lock, never a problem. If you dive three days or more, there’s a discount on the total price of diving). There’s a big rinse tank just outside of the locker room, and hot showers steps away. There’s also a nice restaurant adjacent to the dive center.
For wrecks, Sea Star is good and no penetration. Theo’s, of course, but they couldn’t find the buoy when we went out last week. (rough seas, one sick crew member). Picasso’s Gallery is gorgeous, lots of juveniles, as well as Moray Mana. Poppa Doc’s has a small wreck, lots of friendly sharks, and scattered coral heads. Enjoy! I love it over there; the friendliest people, great diving and gorgeous beaches. (I stayed at Island Seas resort, on the beach and a five minute ride from Unexso, with free shuttles. Had a Living Social coupon for 4 nights for $250, and included a $50 food and beverage credit. February is likely the busiest month of the year there.)
