Urgent - March 2nd-11th 2012

Hi!

I’m a female college student in Philadelphia desperately trying to go diving during my spring break. It has been a very busy semester, so I’m trying to find something last minute. I would like to go somewhere in the Caribbean in the interest of time and cost, but I would be open to other options. Would prefer a female dive buddy, and can do any time between March 2nd and 11th.

A bit about my diving history: I’m a divemaster (PADI), I’ve been diving for 8 years, certified for 5. Most recent dives have been in the Bahamas, Roatan, and Costa Rica.

If anyone knows of dive trips with open spots, or would be interested in organizing a last minute trip, let me know!

Thanks,

Tanya

Hi Tanya,

I’m not sure I’m what you are seeking. I received my advanced certification in the Bahamas last week. Prior to that I received my OWD certifiacation in Cancun. I have done 11 dives. I am seeking to go diving in either Key Largo or Bonaire in the coming 2 weeks or so. Those areas are mostly shore diving, so a buddy is a must.

Thoughts?

I am going to Curacao arriving on March 2nd and departing on the 8th. Three of us have a 6 person timeshare rented and I am diving with a college friend from Canada and his girlfriend. We are looking for a fourth person to join us. We are staying at the Royal Sea Aquarium Resort and diving with Ocean Encounters. If you are interested I will send you more information. I am a rescue diver diving for 12 years about 200 dives.

Tanya - I just signed up last night so it won’t let me message yet. I don’t know if you are able to message me and then I can reply. We check in at Royal Sea Aquarium Friday March 2nd so you would have to book a flight to CUR. We fly out of Miami on American Airlines flight number 939 and return from CUR to MIA on the 8th American Airlines flight number 910. The timeshare is a large suite and has 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. You can also book the diving you would like to do online, saves a few dollars, and can secure a spot on the boat with us. The suite is paid for and locked in for up to 6 people with no additional cost. We have to do an introductory dive on the 3rd. I booked a 2 tank morning dive, added an additional upgraded to go to Klein Island on Tues and also added a night dive on the tugboat. Diving came to $503 with tax and they require you to pre pay. I will send my flight info, dive info and links to do the online reservations in a message as soon as it lets me.

Hi Tanya,

Below are some links for you to check out. I have included my flight itinerary and what I booked for diving at the end. I booked my flight on Fri Mar 2nd departing MSN and returning from CUR on Thur. Mar 8th. We are diving with Ocean Encounters and below is the scoop with a link to book online after you secure your flights. You can add in the notes section you would be with Brad Hottman and Dennis Weatherald Party. And yep we are the resort on the little Island.

Below you can see some general information about the diving we offer:

Every day we offer a 2 tank boat dive in the morning, $92.- and a 1 tank
boat dive & snorkel trip in the afternoon $59. –. This includes tanks and
weights.
Boat diving packages start with 4 days $352. – and include unlimited tanks
and weights on package days.

We also have some very unique trips that you will be able to join when you
are in Curacao, these are apart from our regular 2 tank boat diving
schedule. With booking a boat diving package, you can upgrade one of the
package days to a special trip;

Tuesday: Klein Curacao and East point. This trip includes lunch and two
dives. Klein Curacao is a getaway to a deserted island with some beautiful
diving. Before heading up to Klein Curacao the boat stops at East Point. A
beautiful place to dive and a very unique location, because we are one of
the few dive facilities that can dive there. If you want to see virgin
corals and giant fish formations, you cannot miss this dive! $140. -/upgrade
$50. –

Tuesday: Night dive to Tugboat – This night dive you cannot miss. Tugboat is
the place to dive into the night. You will see giant lobsters, crabs,
octopus and even turtles! $73. –p.p.(no upgrade available)

Thursdays: Mushroom Forest. This is a world famous dive and a “must dive”
for any diver visiting Curacao. This trip includes 2 dives and lunch.$140.
-/ upgrade $50. –

Mondays and Fridays: Dolphin Dive. This is a unique experience for diving
with a dolphin in the open sea. You really interact with the dolphin and
will experience the dolphin in his natural environment.$242. – p.p. (no
upgrade available).

Please note that we ask every level diver to do a welcome shore dive prior
any boat diving, this you can do together for free.

Important is that all divers have been diving in the past 18 months, if not
we ask this diver to do a refresher dive at your local dive shop or with us
for $83. – per person.

We recommend booking boat dives and courses in advance, this way there will
be a place reserved for you. For this you can use the secured booking form
on our website: book online
https://www.oceanencounters.com/en/reservations/book-online>

If places are available, I will then send you a booking summary (please note
that we require full payment in advance to secure the booking).

Let me know if you have any more questions that I can answer for you.

Nice regards,

Morag Ambrosi

Go to the keys! Closer than islands. (you can drive from Philly) about 21 hours to Key Largo by car. there are some very affordable places to stay and you can also hit Key west for a day/nite if you have an off day from diving. Check "Its a dive" in Key Largo located iin the Key largo marriott.

Tanya,

Since you are in school in Philly, once it warms up check out Dutch Springs. If you have not dived cold it takes some getting used to. There are also some really good days diving the Jersey Shore, but they can be hard to come by some seasons. if you have not found them yet check out North East Scuba Supply >http://www.northeastscubasupply.com/store/

They have one of everything in the shop at very reasonable prices with a never ending supply of specials and close-outs. They run a first class charter on their own boat out of Brielle NJ, there is a link to the boat from the home page. They have the hard-core wreck diving knowledge with out the attitude. Simply the best dive shop you will find locally.

Enjoy you dive vacation
