My wife and I are vacationing in Maui the first week of October 2016. She is not a diver so I am looking for someone to buddy up with for some shore dives and maybe a boat dive or two.

What ever you do, don’t go with LaHania Divers! They ruined my Hawaiian holiday, and my last port to dive because I was the only diver for the afternoon boat. He called me the day before and told me this but had no way of trying to schedule someone else, because of the $1.00/minute cell phone rate. I asked him to delay the morning boat, until my Cruise Ship moored off-shore and I could get to the boat. He said No. I couldn’t believe it, he just cancelled the afternoon trip, so they didn’t have to be back for another trip, why not delay the AM boat 1 hour to accommodate me and then we just stay out an equal amount of time. No harm, no foul. He wouldn’t do it! The least he could do would have been to call around to the other shops for me (Since I was on a Cruise Ship at sea) and hook me up with a boat or a DM for a shore dive. I have a new name for this operator, but the moderator would not like it, but think about what rhymes with Lahaina (female anatomy).

I was on the dock when their boat came back in, I was glad I didn’t go with Lahaina Divers because the boat was filled with at least 20 divers. Obviously, he was after the money and not the divers! It looked like a Sardine boat, 20 divers, 40+ tanks and a crew of 4.

Moral of the story, just because they are the closest Dive Shop to where you are, doesn’t mean they are the best option.
