People go scuba diving for many reasons. Some divers are interested in the natural beauty of coral reefs, and the animals that call this environment home. Wreck divers are interested in man-made objects that have ended up underwater by disaster. Ships sink because of bad maintenance, fire, weather, collisions and war. Once sunk, the wreck becomes a time capsule. When swimming through one of these underwater museums, one can’t help but imagine the drama that happened during the sinking. These structures also attract marine growth, becoming an oasis in a desert of sand. Over time they become beautiful habitats attracting many ocean creatures. At our July meeting Larry Cohen will give a brief presentation on shipwreck photography. He will talk about lens choices, lighting and other techniques.
After the brief presentation, we invite you to share shipwreck images that you are proud of, or would like input from fellow members on how to improve. We ask that you bring no more than 6-8 images to go over in detail. We want to spend time not only hearing how you took the photo, but discussing how it could have been improved.
