The Button is a boat accessible fresh water dive site, located in North Hatley, QC, Canada. The maximum depth is 61-70ft/19-21m.
Not having many landmarks available, the use of GPS is therefore strongly recommended for locating the place. Once there, the use of sonar will allow you to easily detect this shoal which extends from west to east. A small rocky point juts out on the north side and on the shore you can observe, on the south side, a chalet with a large sandy beach. The shoal is located approximately in the center of these two landmarks and is equal to the rocky point.
The location is protected and anchoring is easy. It is located within the 10 km/h zone which provides some protection from boaters.
The dive begins in a northerly direction to explore the rock wall at a maximum depth of 65 feet. On the way back, the dive continues around this shoal at a depth of about 45 feet. You end the dive by observing the marine life that frequents the top of this small underwater mountain at a depth of barely 15 feet. Many bass have taken up residence at this location in addition to the many rock bass and perch that are always present. In the spring, this is the ideal place to observe the nests with the fry.
