The Perkins Point Corridors is a boat accessible fresh water dive site, located in Ayer’s Cliff, QC, Canada. The maximum depth is 61-70ft/19-21m.

On the west side of the lake, located halfway between Kate Point (the underwater island) and Morse Point, we find Perkins Point. Abbott Point (west side) and Perkins Point form a slight constriction at this point. There are beautiful cliffs on both sides of the lake at this point. Opposite Perkins Point, we find a small reef flat barely 35 feet deep before reaching the main cliff further offshore.

This site is therefore easy to locate and once there, anchoring is facilitated by the shallow depth. The departure must be made to the south of the point exactly 100 meters from the shore. Indeed, the buoy indicating this position is anchored directly on the start of the first small cliff that goes around the point. Despite the low visibility at shallow depth, many bass take refuge there. Going up this small cliff towards the south, you observe long corridors of rock, on a gravel bottom: an ideal place for bass and rock bass to spawn in the spring.

Heading east, the main cliff starts at around 80 feet and runs north-south across the lake. The advantage of this cliff dive is its location on the east side which allows us to enjoy good sunshine throughout the day. However, this location is exposed to winds and any dive should therefore be planned for calm days. In addition, the dive flag should always be used as this is a very popular spot for trolling fishermen.

For further exploration, on the northwest side of the point, about 300 meters from the shore, is another site that local divers call the Valley of Monuments (N 45°12’50", W 071°59’42"). Indeed, on a mud bottom, at a depth of 65 feet, you can see huge chunks of rock detached from the cliff measuring 5 to 10 meters high and lying here and there. This site offers quite a spectacle when the sun’s rays manage to pierce the surface between these monuments.
