Seneca Lake (Private Campsite) is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located in Watkins Glen, NY. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m. The average visibility is 36-40ft/11-12m.

This area is accessed by shore but you need to rent the private campsite on the western shore (or one of many other rentals in the Watkins Glen area). There is no public shoreline in the area.

The depth drops off quite rapidly from shore. At the end of the dock, depth is already 20+ feet making this a good area to do your safety stop upon your return. Visibility will improve greatly after reaching 70+ feet. Once you get to approximately 80 feet, there will be a steep transition in grade that drops off rapidly. The grade is deceitful and is greater than it appears so its important to have good buoyancy control and awareness of depth. You can continue east as deep as you like, although there is not much to be found on this steep slope.

In the shallower areas, you may find some fish, bottles, cans, chairs, and boat anchors. Be aware of boaters especially during the summer months and realize the lake needs to be shared among everyone.
