The site is just to the left of the point at the end of Coyote Drive. Go to One Way road and then loop around. After you loop around the area is on your right. Ample Parking, Area is very clean, usually mowed, Depth goes from 0’ to 6’ deep rather quickly.. dropping to 15 ft deep out about 5 yards from shore. Depth then drops down to 25 to 30 feet after another 10 yards. Water clarity is excellent. Went to this site in August 2017, water temperature was a comfortable 85 degrees, no wetsuit was necessary. I normally FREEDIVE as I am not properly trained for Scuba Diving. Down-time for me is approximately 1 minute and a half but plenty to see. I dove down and spotted about a 5 to 6 lb bass. As I followed it, before I knew it, I went from 15 ft of water to 25 feet of water....My dive watch actually stated 25.7 (it’s about 2 feet off) when I looked at it. Of course, I realized my breath hold time was about up, so I surfaced. But folks, this is a great place to dive....I know it would be a great scuba dive, but to free dive here is pretty awesome as well. As for snakes, in this particular area, I have never seen any as it is frequented by swimmers quite often, which keeps them scared away. However at Stephens Gap Site 1 at Eagle Point, (Where the infamous little island is directly in front of you) I have seen a Water Mocassin in the Rocks, which has deterred me from freediving there anymore. Sadly, someone drowned their on or about the 15th of August, 2017 swimming back to shore after swimming out to the island (about 112 yards away from shore). Broken Bow is my favorite place to freedive as the depth makes it very inviting. Just make sure to be safe, and know your limits.
