Great River Park - 80 foot Schooner is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located at 301 E River Dr, East Hartford, CT 06108. This dive site has an average rating of 3.00 out of 5 from 2 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 16-20ft/5-6m. The average visibility is 5-10ft/2-3m.

There is a sunken schooner near the river bank - very shallow and broken up. Fun dive - but a long walk from the parking lot to the dive point. A small boat or kayak would be best from the parking lot. My guess is it sank in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s and may have been used to ferry products from the ocean to East Hartford up the Connecticut River.

I was part of the group that found this schooner. There is also a barge nearby this site. Visibility can be amazing at times or very bad other times. Also watch for currents.

If you have not seen a sunken schooner or wreck - this is a fun dive. Very shallow but a long walk. It may be a one or two dive and done site - but it is fun. If it rains a few days prior to diving - don’t bother the viz will be very silty and dark.
Otherwise if you are looking for a different type of dive - freshwater and a wreck - this is the place.
