Scuba diving Durdle Door in Dorset - shore dive. It’s a long walk but do able with a little planning. You might want to to walk down first without equipment and check out how steep the walk and steps are. The path near the car park is fairly steep. It’s best to plan an early dive otherwise you’ll be returning not only in the heat of the day, but along side all the tourists. You can see the mist at the top, which will probably deter tourists, and clear at the sea - You won’t known if it’s clear at the sea unless you check or take a chance and walk down. It goes without saying, don’t dive if there is sea mist, there is no phone reception at the bottom for your shore cover to call for help! Use a decent trolley with inflatable tires, and take a bike lock so you can lock it up at the top of the steps. The sea bed is shingle and around 6-8 metres in depth. Inside the bay we didn’t experience any current, but I couldn’t say what it’s like outside. St Oswalds Bay (Man of War rocks) on the other side would also make a great dive or snorkel with lots of kelp. The steps on this side are well worn, the Durdle Door side have been recently repaired. Plenty of drinking water is a wise idea. Pay for all day parking so you don’t have to rush back - up hill with all your gear.

It would be easier by boat, but where’s the fun in that.
