Slabtown Bridge - Loyalsock is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located in Loyalsockville, PA. This dive site has an average rating of 4.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 26-30ft/8-9m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.

Near the junction of Routes 973 and 87 is the deepest pool in the Loyalsock Creek. In the spring you can often find 30 feet. Called Slabtown by the local residents because slab wood was collected here during the logging days. The dam and the logging crib that were once here have been wiped away by the floods over the past 20 years. The little hamlet is called Loyalsockville and across the creek is the Loyalsock game farm, where the state breeds pheasants.

To get to the water there is an access road across the road from the little country church. Park in the church lot, at the back end and walk across the road and down the dirt access road. Do not block or drive down the access road as the landowners will get upset.

After gearing up you will have to wade upstream to where the depth gets waist deep. If you follow the cliff upstream you will find the deepest pool about 25 to 30 ft deep. Continue to follow the rock face up to the new bridge to find small-mouth bass, rock bass and shiners. As you approach the new bridge the creek gets shallower and then deepens at the new bridge. If the fish are feeding you will be followed by Small-mouth bass and Fallfish.

As the Loyalsock cuts in to the neighboring hills it creates cliffs and each spring with the high water the action of the water against the cliffs form deep pools, Other pools are at Barbours and Hillsgrove. A gravel bottom stream that is home to trout, small mouth bass, rock bass, fall fish, carp, suckers, crayfish, shiners, helgramites and the Hellbender.

Did this dive on 8/11/2019. Parking available on the west side of the bridge at the game farm entrance. There is a path down to the creek and its an easy swim over to the pools on the east side. 28ft max depth, 67F bottom temp. Saw catfish, suckers, eels, smallmouth bass, and lots of crayfish. Will do this dive again.

Do not back down the access road! The landowners do not appreciate this. Park in the church lot, at the back of the lot so as not to interfere with anything at the church and walk down the dirt access road from there. There church is used to and ok with divers parking here.
