Berwyn is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Bridgetown, Barbados. The maximum depth is 21-25ft/6-8m. The average visibility is 31-35ft/9-11m.
A 70 ft long World War I French Tug Boat sunk in 1919 by her own crew. The Berwyn sits between 7 and 10 feet below the surface depending on the tide. As a result of the calm water in the bay and the age of this wreck the Berwyn is covered in marine life including healthy hard and soft coral growth and thier associated reef creatures. off the south coast of Barbados.
Today, she sits upright and intact n 20 to 25 feet of water, only 100 yards from shore. This site is often used as a training dive for scuba or resort courses. The intact iron structure is heavily encrusted with coral, allows for easy penetration, and portrays a classic shipwreck background for wideangle photography. A local dive operator has set up a fish feeding station on the site, so be sure to bring some food for the local inhabitants.
