Manarola - Italy

Loading...
Manarola is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located in Manarola, La Spezia Cinque Terre, Italy.

Manarola, an hamlet in the municipality of Riomaggiore, is an old village along the Riviera Ligure di Levante, that can boast of being one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It represents one of the so-called Cinque Terre and is placed in the last part of the valley crossed by the torrent Groppo, between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range at its back.

The coast is mostly rocky; nonetheless, it is full of bays and beaches, generally with low extents. Some are made up of fine, golden sand, others of fine gravel and small pebbles smoothed by the constant action of the sea waves; waters are clean and crystal-clear, recommended also for families with children. Several sports can be done in Manarola, above all water sports: swimming, fishing, sailing and sea-watching are among the favorite ones; moreover, tourists can also do scuba diving: indeed the seabed is uncontaminated and populated by several species of fish.

In Manarola you can also enjoy walking, especially at night, after a day spent on the beach: the tourist can thus relax and, at the same time, discover the typical Genoese tower-houses characterized by their being painted with several colors and built one against the other while overlooking the sea cliff. The town is perched on a rocky ridge stretched out into the sea; in the little streets, the carrugi, you can find small craftsmen’s studios and several rest stops. Finally, people in love can have a romantic walk along the Via dell’Amore, the famous path connecting Manarola to Riomaggiore.
