The Sicchitello is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Ustica, Italy. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m.

The Sicchitello is not frequently visited as it is only suitable for more experienced divers. The reef peaks at 24 m (80 ft) below the surface and has three pinnacles that originate from the sea bed, which is at a depth of around 60 m (200 ft).

This extensive area is well populated by tuna, amberjacks, a wonderful variety of reef sea-life and a large school of geographically stable Mediterranean barracudas.

The occasional large branch of “Gerardia savaglia” (Mediterranean black coral) reaches out from the thick bushes of wonderful red Gorgonias that adorn the rocks here.

This beautiful coral appears yellowish in colour and is often confused with the gorgonia, but if the outside is light in colour the inside is black. Fortunately this variety of black coral is not as easy to process as that found in tropical seas and therefore, it is hoped, less likely to fall prey to souvenir lovers.
