Antioch is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located at Ocean Ave. & 1st Ave., Manasquan, NJ. The maximum depth is 26-30ft/8-9m. The average visibility is 16-20ft/5-6m.

DIRECTIONS: (Manasquan, Monmouth County)
Take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 98. Take Rt 34 South straight through two traffic circles. After the second circle take Rt 35 South to Union and turn left, then right onto Main Street. Stay on Main Street to the end and turn left onto First Ave. The wreck is located at the base of Ocean Ave and First Ave.

CONDITIONS:
The Antioch was a 180foot two masted schooner built in 1876. The 986 ton sailing vessel was carrying a cargo of railroad timbers and was en-route from Savannah, Georgia to New York, when she ran aground on March 27, 1914. Captain Morris immediately sent up distress signals. Lifesavers on the beach worked for twelve hours and broke four hawsers before successfully transporting all ten crew members to shore.

The wreck lies approximately 150 feet off the end of the jetty. She is resting in 15 to 20feet of water and lies from east to west. Her Bow faces east and there is a pile of anchor chain off the wreck’s northeast corner. Diver Bill Schmoldt, reports there are lots of ballast stones on the wreck. Divers also can find a total of three anchors on the site, two on the northeast corner and one just south of the wreck. Please note that this wreck lies low to the bottom and can be a little hard to locate. Visibility ranges from five to over 20 feet at high tide.
