Fort Pond Bay is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located in Montauk, NY. The maximum depth is 21-25ft/6-8m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.
This site is in the Edward Vincent Ecker County Park. There is an old ramp 125 yards from the parking lot where you can put in and go to the left to dive the pier or go right to dive a rocky area by the bluffs.
From Aqua Explorers: This was a WWII sub base and some interesting things ended up on the bottom :)
Take Southern State Parkway to Exit 44 East, Sunrise Highway. Stay on Sunrise to Montauk Highway and continue east into the town of Montauk. Turn left onto Second House Road and drive north to the water. Turn right onto Navy Road. Navy Road will end at a gate. This area is private property and permission is needed to park here. If you turn left onto Navy Road, you will end up in a condo development. This is also private property but I have been told that is possible to park just before the condo entrance.
