Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at AR-400 - "Capt. Greg Mickey"
The "Capt. Greg Mickey" was sunk in 2007 to serve as an artificial reef in the memory of Capt. Greg Mickey who was lost at sea in June 2005 after a dive expedition near the Frying Pan Tower turned tragic. With the support of the local community and the Division Of Marine Fisheries the "Capt. Greg Mickey" was created by transforming a 184 ft menhaden vessel into an artificial reef. The vessel had it’s engines removed and all harmful toxins removed before it was sunk. The ship serves as an excellent location for many dive charters out of Wilmington, NC.
