Cave dive on the winward coast of the Maku Mano bird sanctuary island located off the coast of MCB Hawaii Kaneohe Bay. Cave entrance is on the north side of the larger island. The air cave is about 40’ wide and 30’ tall at the entrance and extends about 300’ into the island. Underwater, the depth is about 80’ at the entrance and gradually slopes up to 40’ at the back end of the cave. The bottom is covered with many large boulders that look like the cave roof had collapsed long ago.
Surge can be an issue here as well as lighting. Best time to dive is morning while the sun is still shining into the cave.
I did this dive by paddling a kayak out to the caves. It made for a great morning activity and awesome experience to be inside the cave.
