The Miriam Express a Panama-registered, roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) vessel of 90-metres length and of 3,348 gross tonnes (GRT) was sailing from Hamriah Port to Iraq when it sank about 20 nautical miles from the coast. It is reported that there was no loss of life after the UAE Coastguard rescued 14 crewmembers

The site is some distance off the Palm Jumeirah, at least an hour by speed boat. Dependent on sea/weather conditions it could take longer.

Visibility was poor, so we couldn’t see much, and it was cold once we got below 15m. The wreck is only of interest on one side, as there is little of interest on the featureless seabed on the hull side. Both my torches barely penetrated the murk.

There are old bags of tea, bolts of cloth and miscellaneous junk lying around on seabed on the side where the deck lies half submerged in the sand. It’s good for one dive, in good conditions, however otherwise not overly exciting.
