Monastery, North is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located in Carmel, CA. This dive site has an average rating of 4.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m. The average visibility is 36-40ft/11-12m.
This site is very deep. It’s a treanch that drops to about 1800ft. In the summer and fall there will be seal pups who want to play. I have played tug-of- war with kelp, and one was riding my tank like I was a motorcycle. In the summer the kelp is very thick and it atracts many fish. In the spring the tiny shrimp are so plentyful that the viz gets cut down. This site can be tricky to enter and exit, and has taken the life of divers and swimmers alike. Advanced only recommed. That said this is one of my favorite spots
