Oak Beach Park - Babylon NY

Loading...
Oak Beach Park is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located in Babylon, NY. This dive site has an average rating of 3.00 out of 5 from 4 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 16-20ft/5-6m. The average visibility is 5-10ft/2-3m.

Bring bug spray, you will need it before and after dive!

About a half mile west from where R/V Wahoo docks, about 8 divers showed, wall in parking lot is perfect height for setting up tank. This was a LIDA clean-up dive but site not to trashed, the usual crabs, starfish, ells, flounder and some baitfish above me I couldn’t ID. Under the old restaurant pier we found some jewelry, coins and a lot of stemware, some divers put together sets.

This is in Fire Island channel so slack high tide would be best!

Southern State pky to Robert Moses Causeway to Ocean pky, make U-turn at 1st. Park in lot between restaurant and old home. (Update, Google Earth view looks like old restaurant and home have been torn down)

There is another dive site farther west on Ocean Beach Road, I saw a few dive shop trailers heading that way, probably with students. On Aqua Explorers.com they list that as OBI Beach & Barge, parking is in a lot marked "town residents only" so parking is at your own risk.
