Little Bay - Sint Maarten

Loading...
Little Bay is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Sint Maarten, Sint Maarten. This dive site has an average rating of 3.45 out of 5 from 11 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 31-35ft/9-11m.

This was a gorgeous location. The bay is surrounded by small mountains on each side and some nice resorts facing the inland portion. A local Dive shop has a floating dock with a bar for the non-divers and for relaxing after diving. The actual diving was done off a boat anchored a bit of a distance away from the floating dock. The location has 3 wrecks, a submarine, a catamaran and another ship of some sort. The visibility is iffy at best, the day before I arrived it was 100ft+ but during my dive I couldn’t see my hand in fins.

I went scuba diving here on 11/6/2013. Average viz: 26-30ft/8-9m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C.
Logged Dive 1111, "Little Bay", Dutch Saint Maarten Island. The original scheduled dive with Blue Bubbles Dive Shop in Phillipsburg is canceled, the boat captain bent the prop shaft by wrapping the anchor line into the prop and around the shaft. No other boat available. The shop recommends I try Aqua-Maniac at Little Bay. Kathy and I grab a cab and in no time we are through the gated resort and at the Dive Shop. My Dive Log and Dive Certs. get me what I need, a tank. Without my Dive Log I would have had to rent a dive instructor as a chaperone. I sign a release and I’m on my way. The area is shallow, however, there are submerged features that provide hideouts for a fair amount of sealife. I play "Peek-a-Boo" with a octopus. Again I run into Lionfish, I attempt to bury it in a hole with sand and rocks. The dive lasted 74 min.

This was my first ever dive. (Discover Scuba) There was enough in the area to hook me on diving forever..
