Springmill Pond is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located at 12950 EAST GRAND RIVER, Brighton, MI 48116. This dive site has an average rating of 3.60 out of 5 from 15 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 36-40ft/11-12m. The average visibility is 5-10ft/2-3m. Training platforms are available.

This is in Island Lake State Park. There is a dive platform, a sunken pontoon boat, snowmobile, and toilet. Some fish in shallower water.

Double-D - 8/30/2014 5:58 PM Rating Added: 5 My wife and I have been here multiple times, most recently today (8-30-14). This is a far cry from a quarry or some tropical location, that being said, this is a hidden little gem for those near by looking for a "quick fix", refresh skills, test new gear, etc. Being only 20 minutes away, this is our go-to location for a quick morning, before work or after work dive as well as checking out new gear. The pond is located inside the state park, so you will need to have a rec passport. The pond doubles as a nice beach setting that is family friendly with bathrooms, changing room, and a little concession stand. You can enter from any location close to the parking lot, not needing to walk more than 100’ to shore. A number of shops do their certification dives there, most groups enter from the center of the beach (near where most of the underwater attractions are), or off to the far left (west) side. The pond has a maximum depth of about 35 (+/-) feet, and average of about 25- 30 once you hit the drop off. Attractions are 2 dive platforms, one equipped with a safety stop bar, multiple picnic tables, paddle boat, snowmobile, laptop and a small number of items. Aquatic life is fairly minimal but that may be due to time of year (DNR stocks the pond with fish). Visibility is approximately 10-20’, obviously depending on time of year, etc, etc. It is best to arrive early (8:00-8:30am) right when the park "opens" if you wish to avoid the weekend, or family beach goer crowd. In closing, although it does not offer air filling, great visibility or other attractions some divers have become accustomed to, it offers everything you need for a quick fun dive. Aside from the michigan state park pass required, which is good for the entire year, there are no charges for pond/beach entry, or to dive...so buy the pass once, dive all year for free.
