It was pretty good in 2006 but last summer the hydrilla was awful. It is a good place to pick up crayfish though. We never bother with SCUBA and just freedive here. We put a flag on our 12’ aluminium boat and tow it up and down the mill pond between Shangrila and Twin Caves. Beware of the warden. He will ticket you for vessel infractions including not having a diver down flag. He’s a nice fellow though. Also the dive shop there, while geared toward cave divers, is convenient and has some cool videos for sale.

We attempted to dive in 2004 during training dives. We dove around cave entrances at Jackson Blue then went under the fence down stream to get to Shangrila. The Hydrilla was so thick you couldn’t get to it but gave us good lessons in how not to get stuck and how to get unstuck going through massive thinck Hydrilla. Would probably be easier to get to via boat than doing a drift type dive.
