Eagle Ray Rock - Cayman Islands

Loading...
Eagle Ray Rock is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. This dive site has an average rating of 5.00 out of 5 from 5 scuba divers. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m.

This rarely visited site on the southern tip of the west wall features a sand chute starting at 50 feet that slides past garden eels to a wall with multi-colored bushy black corals. A block of the wall about the size of a bar cabana has broken off, and you can swim the crevice between the two while keeping an eye out for spotted eagle rays.

Eagle Ray Rock is located near the southwest corner of Grand Cayman. Like other dive sites in this area, it consists of tall coral mountains scattered along the sandy bottom that slopes from 70 ft down the wall to the drop off around 130 ft. The tops of the coral heads are around 50 ft deep. This site is sometimes subject to current, and it may have limited visibility when the tides and current bring run-off from the south sound. However, on most dives and it clear and beautiful. The canyons and swim-throughs are great for exploring. Look for tall red finger sponges and large brown tube sponges for colorful photo backdrops to all types of fish or a great setting for your dive buddy photo. This is a wonderful dive site for touring.
