Mala Ramp (Lahaina Pier)
Maui-Lahaina, HI
Water Type: Salt
Entry Type: Shore
One of my favorite shore dives!
Pros: Easy entry and exit. Shallow, so great bottom time. Usually good visibility. Everything from green sea turtles, frog fish, white tip reef sharks, octopus, and schooling fish concentrated on the wreck.
Cons: Must have buoyancy under control. This site is adjacent to an active boat ramp, with dozen of commercial charter and private boats launching from this ramp throughout the day. It is not uncommon to see a boat zip by overhead, a mere 15 to 20 feet from you.
