Stolt Dagali
cynwydb - 9/22/2008 10:01 AM
Dove the Stolt Degali this Sunday. A Beautiful day for a New Jersey wreck dive. I met up with John (ScouterJT) and at the boat (The Gypsy Blood) in Brielle. We ended up diving as a threesome with Kira a bio teacher from NJ. The dive is on the back half of the ship. The Stolt Degali was sliced in two in 1964 by a passenger liner. The front stayed afloat. The back sank quickly taking 19 crew members with it, and now sits on the sand at 130 feet, with the top of the wreck at about 70 ft. Visibility...
CHAPARRA
cynwydb - 8/25/2008 8:44 AM
Dove the wreck of the Chappara off of New Jersey with Scout (aka Tim). The charter was with Atlantic Divers and the dive boat was the Dina Dee out of Barnegat Light, New Jersey. The wreck is of a Cuban freighter that was sunk in 1918 by a mine laid by a German U boat. Most of the guys on the trip were hunters, or diggers. Scout and I were the only people diving with singles (but we did have ponies). Conditions were great with almost flat seas and very mild current. Visibility near the surface wa...

I had a great time on this trip. With 19 dives at a wide variety of sites and room and board for about $900 it was a great value. The Blackbeards trips have been described as "camping at sea" and that`s pretty much on the mark as far as ammenities go. Most of the Diving was around Bimini where we dove walls, wrecks and fields of coral heads. The rest of the dives were around Grand Bahama (wrecks and coral head fields including my favorite dive, Lucayan Caves). Knowledgeable and helpful crew....
Sherman Sherman

The Sherman is a civil war era wreck off the coast of South Carolina near Myrtle Beach. Its shallow (about 50ft) and the visibility was limited, but the sea life was a treat. Lots of growth on the wreck (its been on the bottom since 1874) and some cool little guys (nudibranches) as well as the usual baraccuda. Short boat ride out (six miles)....
International Costal Clean up Day International Costal Clean up Day
cynwydb - 10/14/2007 11:50 AM
On Sept. 15th and 16th I worked with a group of divers from East Coast Diving Supply to clean up areas around Ocean City New Jersey, We did both in water and shoreline clean up. Some of the area was marsh, and we pulled out quite a bit of trash including a manaquine, a home hot water heater and a sofa....

I went over Labor Day weekend on a trip organized by N-Depth Scuba of Chandler, Arizona. For me this was a great trip with interesting dive sites, very well organized and run. Many of the sites have fairly steep drop offs that are essentially a continuation of the cliff faces you see above water. I was interested in playing with my new toy (camera) and got a lot of great subject matter. (Not that the pictures all turned out great, but I`m learning) so I pretty much stayed above 80ft. The Saturda...
