Wow, what a week! We had great viz this whole last 2 weeks, of course this is the time for the Catalina islands, So off we went a few times and all diver came back very excited, mantas where there! During most of the boat rides they were treated with dolphings jumping, pilot whales swimming along and even hump back whales next to the boat. After all this excitement the weather stayed great and the winds were low so we decided to go to the Bat islands. Did we pick the right day! Escorted by pilot...

It is the time of year again when the Giant Manta rays come to the Catalina islands to enjoy the cleaning stations. Daily trips are organized and divers are excited to see these magnificent creatures. Like 2 days ago, our guides were Felipe ,Phil and Adrian came along as Rich Coast Photographer. On the second dive Felipe spotted a manta ray who was dragging along a very long fishing line, once he reached the line he realized he forgot his knife so waited for Adrian to pass his, but the manta was...
Rob’s birthday trip
Richcoast - 9/15/2009 1:43 PM
Last weekend, it was Rob’s birthday, one of our instructors, and we went on a boat trip with a couple of friends. We left the bay around one and we started with fishing. The plan was to catch some fish and cook it for dinner with all of us. Unfortunately, the fish were smarter than us and we didn’t catch anything. After a couple hours of fishing we decided to go to playa huevos, one of the nicest beaches in Guanacaste, to swim and relax a little. Playa Huevos is beautiful and I would suggest eve...

We have been really busy lately, and the diving has been great! We had a couple trips to Bat Island which were amazing, bull sharks, whales, manta’s, everything you really don’t want to miss! Besides Bat Island, the local dives has been really good as well. On almost every dive we see white tip reef sharks, turtles, and spotted eagle rays everywhere. We even heard the whales singing! The water is warm, the visibility is good, and it is not raining in the morning, what else can you ask for. You s...

2 days in a row I went to the Bat islands. We planned to go to the Catalinas. but the ocean was flat as a lake, so Bat islands seemed the right place to go. Did we make the right decision! Both days were awesome. The first dive site was big scare. The name came about because it’s famous for the bull sharks, and boy did we see bull sharks! At a depth of 12 meters we had about 5 or 6 just circling around us. Adrenaline rushing through your body and screams left and right of buddies trying to point...
Bat Island
Richcoast - 5/28/2009 1:43 PM
Wow, the season has started again and I had one of my best dives this year. we had a 3 tank trip to the Bat islands. Of course our main goal was to see Bull Sharks, and did we ever! On the first site "big scare" we saw about 8 of these big guys, plus a nurse shark. We decided to do the secdond dive at the same site. This time I was face to face with a bull shark, I wanted to turn around a rock and there he was also planned to go around the rock only in my direction. I turned around to my divers ...
