Well while reading on the Texas parks and wildlife site about artificial reefing of ships, I ran accross some information on a Mexican freighter sunk off the coast of Port O Connor. This ship was sunk by the German Uboat 171. Even thought this vessel was sunk in shallow muddy water, Im doing research on possibly diving this wreck. The information I have found says that it was broken into by the torpedo and sank with in 3 to 4 minutes. The Navy blasted the super structure to eliminate it as being a hazard to navigation. My understanding is the vessel still comes within 45 feet of the surface and is located in 65 feet of water about 11 miles outta the Matagorda ship channel jetties.

well I have now done a quick dive on this wreck and had almost 0 vis, so I did not stay down long that and I was mainly down to get our anchor unstuck.
