Keep Up To Date With Refresher For Your Diving Skills

A diving refresher or a PADI Reactivate programme is something all divers should consider if they haven’t had the opportunity to dive for extended periods. We’re not all fortunate enough to be able to dive when and where we want.

Logistics, finances, health can all make getting a dive in a bit of a struggle. The recent pandemic kept the majority of divers away from the hobby they love for years. Diving refreshers were in high demand in 2023 and continue to be so this year.

Not everyone will require a refresher and there’s no law or standard that says you must have one. So common sense needs to be applied. A diver with 1000 dives who hasn’t dived for a year or so is probably not going to require a skills brush up. Experienced divers confidence will remain high and dive skills probably never forgotten. Although it’s a good idea to keep an eye on new theory, things do change. Alternatively an inexperienced diver could well need a diving refresher even after 6 months out of the water which is the PADI recommendation.
What Are My Options?

In may be just a case of a private dive with a dive master or instructor. An additional THB 700 on top of one of our day trips will get you the attention you require. Practice the skills you feel need it and get feedback from our staff and refresh the skills they feel you need to work on.

We can also take you into a swimming pool for a couple of hours. It’s surprising what a couple of hours swimming in shallow water and practising skills can do for your confidence.

If you’re a PADI diver then you should have access to dive theory for all of your courses so this can be done before your trip in your own time.

A PADI Reactivate is for divers who’ve been out of the water for an excessively long time. There are certain skills you must practice and a theory refresher. It will cost a little more but for divers who got there PADI plastic cards before digital certification cards were the default you’ll also receive a new digital card.
Where Should I Go?

We highly recommend the Racha Noi/Yai day trip. The clear, calm waters are perfect for building confidence and practising skills. You can also take the Phi Phi/Shark Point trip, conditions are generally favourable although visibility can be low at times.

The King Cruiser trip is definitely not recommended. On certain days when the current is strong it can be quite an intimidating dive even for experienced divers.

So if you want to get back in the water and knock some of the rust off…
