Diving in Aqaba, JordanI posted this text originally in 2012, so it is an older post. This was very first blog post I ever wrote! While it is a few years old, the facts still remain the same, and I suppose recent events in the Middle East make Jordan perhaps an even more exotic dive destination than it was a few years ago. I have altered the text slightly for this re-post. So here goes:

I visited Jordan with my family last November. What an incredibly beautiful country, what friendly people! Jordan was really worth the visit. Great diving too, clear warm waters and colourful reefs right at the northern end of the Red Sea.

There’s a sunken tank near the Seven Sisters site. Nice easy dive right from the shore, not too deep, so we had plenty of bottom time, and there’s lots of marine life to see!

One of the most famous sites in Jordan is ancient Petra, the amazing Pink City high up in the desert mountains.
Aqaba is Jordan’s only seaside resort, and it is situated in the very northern end of the Red Sea, next to the city of Eilat in Israel. There are many wonderful sites for diving and snorkeling in the clear, warm waters just off the coastline between Aqaba and neighboring Saudi Arabia. Most of the dive sites are easily accessible directly from land, so for the most part there’s no need for a boat, making the dive-trips easier, quicker and also less expensive.

I did my dives with Ahlan Aqaba Scuba Diving Center; great service and nice, easy-going staff. Miss you guys already!

Well, that was that, a remake of my first ever blog post! Hope you found it interesting. Keep following this blog, I’ll be posting a new text soon. Thanks for reading!

Fact: The population of Jordan is 6,5 million, population of Aqaba 95,000

Thought that I’d posted a question, but it seems to have disappeared. Do you have anymore underwater pics?

I snorkeled off Suleiman’s Fortress back in 1996 and used a disposable underwater camera then, but would love to now dive the Red Sea and shoot her with my Canon.

The Red Sea is definately one of the best places I’ve dived. Lots to take pictures of.
