Divers assist a dolphin in need while night diving in Hawaii Divers assist a dolphin in need while night diving in Hawaii

Earlier this month, while on an nighttime swim with manta rays off the coast of Hawaii, a group of divers were surprised to see a single Bottlenose dolphin approach and linger among them, though it appeared unable to swim normally. Only after the dolphin continued to circle near around him so insistently did diving instructor Keller Laros begin to realize the animal wasn’t merely being curious — it was actually asking them for help. The dolphin’s movements were restricted because it had become e...

I am being stationed in Hawaii (Oahu, Fort Shafter). I am looking for any advice for good places to dive, dive shops to hook up with, etc. Shore diving, boat diving, etc. You name it I need the details. I will have 3 years to see and dive it all. I am scheduled to arrive in early January 2010. Also, any places to avoid both diving and living. Any other input is appreciated too.Thanks....
Kauai, Hawaii

I Just got back from a trip to Kauai diving off the Na Pali coast (Mana Cracks) and a few on the south shore. Overall it was a good time and the diving was pretty good with several gray reef sharks, an eagle ray and white tip reefies. Nudebranches and the endemic species like triggerfish and butterflyfish were also out with many of the local green sea turtles (several really big). The plankton bloom has begun and visibility was suffering a bit. Around 50-70 feet. But the word is out that whale s...
Hawaii Trip

Just returned from my trip to Hawaii! Had a great time and wonderful diving with Maui Dive Shop! We dove the Wreck of the ST. Anthony and Red Rock on the first dive trip. I was great to see turtles again and the abundant marine life there. The wreck is at about 65 to 70 feet deep and is 65 feet long. Visibility was in the 85 foot range. OH and did I mention having the Humpback whales singing to us!!!! What a treat that was. Red Rock is on the Southern most end of Maui. We actually went around th...
