Looking for someone to dive Balmorhea Springs with one Saturday with, possibly Friday depending on flight times. I’ve never been there before nor to that part of Texas, but it looks like a lot of fun to explore!

Depending on where you live, Balmorhea State Park could be one heck of a long drive. Texas is a pretty big state :) My family and I visited the springs on our way out to California last year. We had a wonderful time..in fact, we didn’t want to leave the springs. I didn’t scuba dive, just snorkeled. Water is pretty shallow (about 20 feet deep max near the spring). The fish are awesome! Lots of black catfish and small silver fish. The diving boards are a lot of fun for the kids (and kids at heart :) I couldn’t believe the clarity of the water. Be prepared for a cold shock!

Here is the dive site on DiveBuddy, I just uploaded some photos from our trip:

I hope you have a great time there!

Hi,

One of the dive shops I know of are going to be there April 18th & 19th. Another place that is fun to dive and not too far away from Amarillo, Texas is Blue Hole in Santa Rosa New Mexico. Blue Hole is about 64f in temp, but 83 foot in depth and with AC it comes out to 108ft. Anyway, if you want I imagine you can arrange it with them to have some tanks there for you.

You may want to call the LDSs in San Antonio to see when they are planning trips.
