Does anyone have any recent business plans or budgets (monthly income/expenses) for a scuba charter, dive resort, bed and breakfast, dive shop, etc.? I’d like to compile some of these and make them available on DiveBuddy. Send any documents directly to me OR post links to them here.

I think it’s pretty straight forward, Greg.

1-Marry someone rich.
2-Make a chart.
3-On the left side (expenses), draw a bar all the way to the top.
4-On the right side (income), draw a bar 1/2 way up the page.
5-Repeat for each month, right?:o)

Greg:

I found some information in the PADI website:

padi.com/scuba/open-a-dive-shop/business-planning/

From PADI Website:

Resources that can Help Get You Started:
  • MyOwnBusiness.org is a site that offers several free web courses that walk any new business owner through the steps of starting a business. The Business Plan session will walk you through the steps helping you build it as you progress through the course.

  • Bplans.com offers several free sample business plans, a software program for purchase that will walk you through the process or you can create a start-up plan by going to miniplan.com.

  • If you’re planning to open a business in the United States, The U.S. Small Business Administration is an excellent starting point for gathering information. They streamline all the facts for someone looking to start a business, or dive shop in your case, in an easy to navigate website. They also offer several tutorials including How to Write a Business Plan .

It has several links to on free advice on opening your own business, Business Pans and also a link to the Smal Business adimistration (SBA) whcih also has a lots of resources for opening a small bisiness

Yeah but those are just tips on how to write a business plan. I’m looking for plans or budgets that ate already done. To use as examples of monthly income and expenses. Barriers to entry. Initial startup costs, etc.

Thanks for this Greg, I could really use some info like this as well. I have extensive bookkeeping skills but starting up a new dive shop is a very new industry for me. Any list of operating cost and budget examples would be valuable right now.
