Hi. I’m looking in to Master Scuba Diver but i have a few question. PADI Master Scuba Diver, you must log 50 dives and complete the following PADI courses:
  • PADI Open Water Diver course
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
  • PADI Rescue Diver course
  • Five PADI Specialty Diver Courses
  • Is open water, advance open waters, and rescue part of the five speciality ,i have done deep water and navegation plus night diving but i dont have certification for this last ones. I use to work at a dive shop.

No those classes are not specialties, during your AOW course you did 5 adventure dives. Deep and Nav. plus 3 others that you decided. These dives were dive #1 of each specialty.

Nav. has a total of 3 dives for the specialty leaving you 2 more to do and Deep has a total of 4 leaving you 3 other dives. With each dive having specific task to do during the dives.

I would recommend getting specialties in Deep, Nav., and Peek to really make you a better diver.

You asked “Is open water, advance open waters, and rescue part of the five specialty, i have done deep water and navigation plus night diving.” Only deep and navigation are considered specialty courses. While the others are required prior to becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver they are not counted. Specialty courses result in a C Card from PADI or another organization and include Underwater Navigation , Deep Diver , Multilevel Diver , Night Diver , Altitude Diver , Boat Diver , Drift Diver , Search & Recovery Diver , Wreck Diver , Dry Suit Diver , Nitrox Diver , Underwater Photographer , Underwater Naturalist , Peak Performance Buoyancy. Contact me or your LDC for more information.

I have to agree with everyone else. I am in a PADI Master Diver program right now. I have completed Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and six specialties. I just have to complete "Rescue".

Note that to do Rescue you will need a prerequisite current First Aid CPR/Defib. class.

I only have one more specialty to go before I have completed everything that is required. Once that is done, it is my understanding that all you need to do is apply (and pay) for the Master Scuba Divers certificate. There is no further course required. Is that correct?

As far as I know once you comlete five specialties, plus Rescue Diver, Open Water and Advanced Open Water and meet the 50 dive minimum you are good to go. Your local dive shop, or whomever you took your courses through, should be able to get you certified as a Master Diver. I am not sure if there is a cost associated with it but knowing PADI it will cost you something.
