Which camera do you use?
Which is the better?
I’m looking at the GoPro Hero 3 Silver and the Contour Roam 2 and Contour+2
So many reviews online, but I am looking for real world diver info

I heard Contour went under. I had a Astek 7200 the Camera wasn’t bad but the housing leaked after a few dives. I’ve got the newer model on order as the brand is inexpensive so I’m willing to give it a second try. I’ve also looked into Intova’s Sport HD II the picture quality I’ve seen from it is excellent but I’ve been told by one of their execs that the next model will be worth the wait.

I’ve got the Intova Sport HD 2 and it’s brilliant. It has a viewing screen at the back and it takes pictures as well as video.. It also has all the accessories you could ever want. I’ve posted a number of pictures on the divebuddy face book page and if you want to see some of the videos I’ve taken search youtube for my name (brian waddell) and diving and watch the videos from may 2014 onwards. The other videos were mostly taken with my son’s contour - a great camera as well.

Hi btw,
Does your version of the Intova have the LED strobe port? It is my understanding that right now there is a limited edition model with that feature and it will be included as a standard feature on further models along with some other improvements.
What this port does is allow users to pair the camera with an external slave strobe for still photos. This will allow it to take higher quality stills with far better color quality both at depth during the day and at night. I’m looking forward to see what it can do with the 2 different Intova strobes I already own (the PX2600 and ICC4000) It is my understanding that a package with the camera and nano strobe will be offered this will give the little cam twice the strobe power of most still cams with internal strobe in a compact package that should be able to avoid backscatter by offsetting the strobe angle.

Mine doesn’t have the strobe port. However as this is my first waterproof camera I’m happy with it. I think to DoubleTroubles question the Intova HD2 would be a fantastic alternative to the GoPro - and the best bit is that it is cheaper and has the built in LCD display!!!!

The Hero3 is awesome for diving. I love it. The contours (and Sonys, actually) tend to add more contrast when the background is a little hot. I prefer the GoPro. I work in television and was asked to test these three cameras.
