Huish Outdoors seems to be buying a lot of venerable old brands. They own Bare, Stahlsac and Atomic. Last August they added Zeagle. What is known about Huish Outdoors beyond what I can find on a google search? Does anyone know where they going with this?

I never heard about this until now. Maybe they’re going to take over the scuba industry and start consolidating gear. When another business buys several other similar businesses, it usually means they want their products/ideas/patents, but will ultimately narrow the product line and attempt to reduce costs by eliminating all the duplicate people, marketing departments, manufacturers, etc. That may mean better prices for us in the future.

Huish Outdoors is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been in business since 2009. Their former name was Huish Scuba, LLC and they are currently doing business as Huish Divers, LLC.

Article on "Getting Into New Industries": http://danhuish.edublogs.org/2013/05/08/dan-huish-getting-into-new-industries/

"Dan Huish suggests that while you should certainly learn everything you can about the new industry, you don’t necessarily have to become an expert in it. Dan Huish, for example, doesn’t personally know how to make an oxygen tank for SCUBA standards – but he knows how to operate a business, and he knows people who do have those skills. Don’t be afraid to admit areas where your knowledge is slim, and find someone who can do that particular job better than you can."

Well my old Zeagle combo reg was a private labled made elsewhere so maybe now they will be Oceanic/Hollis which would be an improvement.

I like his taste in manufactures, they are all tops :)

"Huish bought American Underwater Products has announced that effective today - Monday 1 May 2017 - Oceanic® and Hollis® have been acquired by Huish Outdoors LLC.

Entrepreneur and scuba pioneer Bob Hollis founded American Underwater Products in 1972.

Hollis’ love of diving and his mechanical aptitude allowed him to create his own specialised dive equipment. 45 years on he has grown his business into a multi-brand company that includes Oceanic and Hollis – two recreational and technical diving brands recognised through the world.

“Adding Oceanic and Hollis to the family of Huish Outdoors brands is an important step for our company,” said Mike Huish, CEO of Huish Outdoors. “These two industry brands allow us to offer a complete range of product categories. We understand that our customers demand the best equipment, rather than a one-brand approach to buying all their gear.”

“The Hollis family are excited to work with Huish Outdoors,” stated Bob Hollis. “We are pleased to be part of a progressive company that believes in driving industry participation through product innovation, an approach that I’ve taken since I first started making dive equipment.”

Oceanic and Hollis represent Huish Outdoors’ sixth and seventh acquisition since 2011, and add to an impressive portfolio of premier brands in dive equipment; Atomic Aquatics, BARE, Liquivision, Sharkskin, Stahlsac, Suunto and Zeagle."
