Anyone else here spearfish in fresh water? Arkansas` freshwater spearfishing season opens June 15th and I am checking out my gear, scouting for good spots and looking forward to a summer of diving fun in Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs. We have our big annual tournament on June 17th. Everyone welcome.

Hey Chuck, I`ve never spearfished in freshwater. I want to one day though if I can find somewhere nearby that allows it. My uncle bought one of those spear poles, not a gun. You put the band around your elbow and the spear shoots foward about a foot or two when you`s pretty neat.

Yea. They call that a Hawaiian Sling around here and I would like to have one. They would be great for smaller fish. Much faster reloading than any gun and that is important for a lot of my hunting. Maybe I could make one using some of the bamboo I have around here. Lets see, one piece of bamboo about 7` long, few nails for a point, bit of old inner tube and some nylon cord. Hmmmm. Gotta go.

Spearfishing season in Arkansas starts Jun 15th. There is still space on the boat for the June 21st ’08 Lake Ouachita spear fishing tournament. See
