I was just curious to know what the price of air is at the local dive shops. Here where I live New York State one dive shop is $ 12 dollars and 45 minutes from this dive shop is $ 5 dollars the price difference is very high two for one price...

Air runs from $3-$8 at the shops I’ve been to around my area. With sometimes 4 tanks to fill, I get the $3 tank fill.

At a Houston dive shop, you’ll pay about $5 per tank fill. At a dive site in Houston, you’ll pay abuot $8. Some dive shops offer unlimited air fills if you rent tanks from them OR get your visual inspection with them.

And I thought the $5.66 I paid last week was high, are you sure for $12 you didn’t get 21% NITROX? :)

Here in West Michigan, a tank fill will cost between $2 to $6 depending on how far you want to drive. The $2 fill is a 45 minute ride each way.

The price of the air is nothing compared to the rest of the dive cost.. I get the air where ever it is convenient at whatever cost... Is a few dollors difference worth your time and gas money..

My LDS owner is a friend of mine and told me what the price of the compressor was as well as the price of routine maintenance. The price of an air fill is $7.00.
By my math, it will take a long time to get the cost of a $12000.00 compressor system back.
I had actually though of buying my own compressor at one time, but....no.
I believe that for most shops it is a "lost leader" item.
