Most potential dive buddies have such awful buddy skills you are really diving solo anyway. Just because someone is under water at the same time as you doesn’t mean they have your back. Solo study helps prepare you for the reality that you will be abandoned and be on a solo dive from that point on. That SSI book is a good read.
