From Sink or Swim; The reef at Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach is an artificial reef constructed of giant boulders. This mitigation reef was a 5-month project that was completed in January 2010. The north end of the Ocean Inlet Park reef is less than a 5-minute walk from the South Lake Worth Inlet (Boynton Inlet). The reef is about 375 feet out from the beach and sits in 6 to 12 feet of water. Entering the water in front of the third set of rocks on the beach is recommended. This will allow you to tell where the current is coming from, while not over shooting the reef. From the beach and while in the water, you are able to see the dark areas in the ocean which is the reef.
Due to the Ocean Inlet Park reef’s proximity to the inlet, this is a busy boating area and you MUST use a dive flag when scuba diving and snorkeling here.
