Advanced Dive-Strong current was about 8 knots on surface drop down on bouy line. Great place to see eagle ray’s. Lot’s of fish barracuda’s, sharks etc.. Morelos is a great town, it’s were the locals go from Cancun & Playa to hang out on the beach & holiday. It’s surrounded by protected mangroves which has kept it small. I have done many dive’s around here I won’t list cause I’d hate to see this place over run. The shop keepers are much more laid back & most of the art and things are made right in Morelos.This is the place to buy a hammock just ask a local to point you to the artisans market then ask for Mauricio Soriano.

History;

In 1943 the C-56 Juan Escutia was launched under her original name USS Knave (AM-256) in Lorain, Ohio. The USS Knave was an US Navy admirable-class mine sweeper in the Second World War. After a short time she was decommissioned and put in reserve in 1946.

In 1955 the USS Knave was classified as MSF-256, later, in 1966 she was sold to the Mexican Marine and renamed to ARM DM-13. Finally in 1996 she got her name Cadete Juan Escutia (C-56). In 2000 she was sunk at the coast in front of Puero Morelos.
