The wreck of the Surprise, a 50 foot fishing boat which sank here around 1994. The boat had just been purchased in nearby Spanish Wells by a party from Nassau and was its very first voyage under new ownership when it ran aground on this very shallow reef and sank only a few miles from its place of purchase, thus living up to her name. It is believed that the Surprise was not yet insured, and it is not known why the engine and other once-servicable parts were never salvaged
