SCOTT from Sarasota FL | Scuba Diver

I am a married guy living in the beautiful gulf community that is Sarasota. New to the sport of Scuba diving. I am looking to go diving in every surrounding that suits my hopefully progressing experience level. We have some nice beach dive spots around here that allow for shark tooth hunting, spearfishing(which I have no experience with) and even a small wreck just off shore. Willing to travel a bit to meet up with someone, or to a good spot. I have all my own equipment including one tank. I am originally from central PA so the opportunity to dive in the warm waters of the Gulf and see all the live under the water is that much more exciting for me. Available to dive during the week and on weekends, just depends on the work schedule and the wife schedule. I get me email sent to my phone, so I can respond quickly usually if there is a "short notice" situation that might creep up.

Let’s get wet!

To anyone in the area, or visiting the area, who would like to get into the chilly waters of the gulf...I am taking some time off between stores to get some diving done and such. Any time between 1/5/2015 and 1/25/2015 that you have an itch to get un the water, shoot me a message. I will probably do at least one Venice shore dive just to get back in the water. I might hop on a charter at some point in there. Have a dive buddy with a boat that I have made plans with in the past that have fallen through, that I hope I can get together with(maybe others on here to spread the costs around as well) just a thought.
Hoping on a good start to the new year!

A general message to anyone on my buddy list, or someone on the list of someone on my buddy list(stay with me here) that they know has the same situation: I work all mornings and weekends, which is of course when most people go diving. I would love to get in the water anywhere between Venice and Tampa, but rarely have the "timing" work out with the schedule I work. So, if there is anyone who would like to find a dive buddy to dive with after 2:30 most days, please let me know. Tues and Wed are out for now, but pretty much any other day. Have all equipment(2 tank)
Thanks for reading

That would be great. Unfortunately, between work and moving into a new house this week, diving isn’t really in the cards. You can always hook up with someone through the dive shops. Hope you have some good dives on your trip. Weather has been a little hectic lately.

Hey Joe. Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately, I have to work all weekend and can’t join you. Please keep me in mind in the future, I would like to do some of the shore dives up that way too.

Weather permitted the dive today, however...work did not. Anyone up for shark tooth diving in Venice or any other low key local diving tomorrow morn????
sotascubanewbie - 6/16/2013 6:13 PM
Weather permitting, planning on diving the Molasses (Regina) barge at Bradenton Beach tomorrow around 10:30. Anybody free and in the area, dive on by.

Hello all! I am new to the sport and looking to get in the water as much as possible. I have all my own equipment, one tank only for now. No boat:-( I live in Sarasota and looking for someone to dive with. Willing to travel a little if needed and worthwhile.

Do a member search and specify your area with a 50 mile radius. You will see several divers around you. Send a few of them a message and get diving.

Scott, Have you tried beach dives off of Venice? Do a little sharks tooth hunting? It’s a great, and cheap way to get in a few dives. Of course sometimes the vis is terrible, but...
sotascubanewbie - 6/09/2013 8:50 AM
I have done one dive down at the service club at Venice. It was this past Monday, and the storms were still brewing. The viz was so bad that I actually hit the bottom before I saw it, so the dive was cut dramatically short. Looking to get back in there as soon as the water clears up a bit. Always open to any suggestions/invitations.
KL_CelticDiver - 6/09/2013 1:07 PM
LOL We find the bottom THAT way a lot at Venice. Not unusal.
